8 Tips on How You Can Move for Less Time and Money

Moving home can be big job, and dreaded by most, but there are ways that anyone can use to make the move run smoother, easier and without any drama.

Hopefully These 8 Tips Will Help

1 – Most of the stress that comes with moving can be easily put aside by not leaving everything until the last moment. If approached pragmatically and with a healthy attitude, preparing to move can be cathartic, enjoyable and energizing, the financial aspect can also be stressful, so consider cheap removals by A2B Removal.

2 – Most people are aware that they are going to be moving well in advance, so preparing packing for the event can begin as soon as the decision is made to move. The longer you have, the easier this step will be, and you will only have to give over a small amount of time each day.

3 – Getting rid of clutter is a must. If there is anything that is not really being used or should be replaced, you should get rid of it. Take on one room at a time, and give yourself a plenty of time to complete each room. You’re going to be finding things that you’ve forgotten about and will never use again. But somebody else just might like them, box them up and take them to your favourite charity shop.

4 – Packing as you go. The nice thing about going through rooms to remove clutter is that you can at the same time pack things up that you won’t be using before you move. Photo albums, books, clothing, knickknacks that you want, etc.  It’s easy to pack when you aren’t under any time duress. Try putting on some music, a talk, or a DVD to help pass the time and actually enjoy the process.  Don’t forget to mark every box with the room it came from and what’s inside. You could also number the boxes with details on pen and paper.

5 – Over the next few weeks, the moving boxes will begin to build up, so select an area from the start that will be the most convenient to put them. Don’t start leaving them all over the home, as this will creates more work. If you will be employing movers, it is not so important where the boxes accumulate, but if you’ll be carrying them outside yourself at the time of moving, try to put them as near to the front door as possible. Your arms and legs will appreciate it!

6 – As the moving date gets closer, you can pack more and more items that won’t be used until after moving. Don’t forget the attic, basement and garage. Crockery and cutlery can be packed a few days in advance, and you can leave a few dishes and glasses and pack the rest.

7 – Preparing your new home is a must. Take a wander around your new home and imagine moving your things in. After you’ve been going through them for a few weeks, you’ll have a great idea of just what you have and where to put them.

8 – What about the fridge, are you going to keep it? Is it working properly? If you plan to sell it and other furnishings, move them somewhere and try doing a garage sale or give to charity.
